How To Start A Team

There are many ways to start an underwater robotics team.

• Home school kids just decide they want to to this

• Existing High School robotics teams decide they want to test their mettle in a new medium

• Grade school kids decide they want to do this as a class project

• College and university students decide they want to add more fun and excitement to their busy lives

• An ROV manufacturer may want to mix it up with some youngsters

Basically a group of people decide to get together, organize, fund raise, design, plan, build and compete.

If you are a group of kids wanting to form a team, find at least one adult like a teacher, a parent, or someone in industry and get them to be your adult sponsor. As a team you  might decide to have a team captain or club president, as well as the other offices, that way every one kind of defines their role. You want to get a variety of people as far as skills, talents, connections, ethnicity and gender. This will give your team greater diversity which will also allow it to adapt to many unpredictable situations as well as bringing in more varied problem solving skills. There is no one way, these are just some ideas.
