Five percent of the high schools in the U.S. are now participants in the FIRST robotics competitions that take place across the the country. In 2007, the competition will reach over 30,000 high-school-aged young people on over 1,300 teams in 37 regional events.

 

In Arizona there is now an Arizona Regional FIRST Robotics Championship, a FIRST Lego Championship, a FIRST VEX Robotics Championship and a National Underwater Robotics Challenge .(NURC) Carl Hayden high school is extremely proud to host the regional Lego and VEX championships as well as with the help of Chandler High School  the new NURC. Carl Hayden and Chandler High Schools are both participants in the FIRST Robotics programs. The mission of NURC is the same as the mission of FIRST. Like always there is that value that makes FIRST stand out and that is gracious professionalism. NURC embraces all that is FIRST and will model itself and conduct itself accordingly.
